Grand Rapids Downtown Market Adding Pinktail Poke and High Tide Soda Shops
Posted on December 20, 2019 by Downtown Market
Jeff Butzow, owner of Fish Lads and Carvers, both among Grand Rapids’ favorite seafood and butcher shops, announced today he will open two new shops inside the Downtown Market. Located on the east side of the Market Hall, Pinktail Poke will offer premium, chef-inspired poke, and High Tide Soda will offer more than 500 varieties of craft soda, available by the bottle or customizable arrangements.
“Poke has always been an inspiration after living in the Pacific Northwest, and we already have the perfect connections through Fish Lads to facilitate sourcing the highest-quality seafood,” said Jeff Butzow, owner. “We’re planning to use the new space to offer an array of customizable options, and give customers a unique experience with interesting variations on fresh, healthy cuisine.”
Butzow will serve premium-quality poke made from scratch with fresh seafood and purposefully sourced ingredients. The shop’s options will be customizable, approachable and accommodate most, if not all, dietary requests.
“Jeff’s success with Fish Lads and more recent creation of Carvers have given him tons of experience with introducing new concepts, and we love his sense of adventure and creativity,” said Mimi Fritz, Downtown Market president and CEO. “One big allure of the Market Hall is the diverse array of food options our guests can expect to find here, and we feel certain these two new concepts will be excellent additions to our current lineup of businesses.”
High Tide Soda will open in the space across from Dorothy & Tony's Popcorn, and will feature a selection of 500+ craft sodas, including mixers, available by the bottle, pack or case, as well as kegs for catering. For those who want to grab a soda to drink right away with their poke or other food from the Market Hall, the shop will offer pre-chilled beverages.
Buildout on both spaces started this month, and both businesses plan to open in early 2020. High Tide Soda will have a soft opening tomorrow, Saturday, December 21.
