The Grand Rapids Downtown Market, the region’s preeminent destination for innovative food experiences, today announced the addition of Dante Villarreal to the Downtown Market Board of Directors.
Villarreal is the vice president of business services at the Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce, leading Chamber initiatives to help members learn and apply best business practices, connect with business experts and peers, build a network and access business services and programs.
Villarreal previously served as the Michigan Small Business Development Center’s regional director for West Michigan. In his role there, he interacted with and advised entrepreneurs, business leaders, and economic support organizations across the 13-county West Michigan region and developed innovative programs to grow small business.
“Dante has a deep understanding of how to create, assist and grow startup businesses,” said Mimi Fritz, president and CEO of the Downtown Market. “His personal and professional expertise will be incredibly valuable for the small businesses in our Incubator Kitchen and Market Hall."
Villarreal earned his Master’s in Business Administration from Grand Valley State University and brings 20 years of experience in economic and business development, including owning his own business, to the Downtown Market Board of Directors.
“My passion has always been working with small business and building community," said Villarreal. “I’m excited to bring those two passions together with an organization whose mission centers around advancing both.”
